Gothenburg

Gothenburg (Göteborg in Swedish, pronounced [jœtəˈbɔrj] ) is the second largest city in Sweden by population and the fifth-largest in the Nordic countries.Poseidon, Foto: Dick Gillberg

Situated on the west coast of Sweden, the city proper has a population of approximatly 550 000 in the urban area and total of 938,580 inhabitants in the metropolitan area. 

The City of Gothenburg was founded in 1621 by King Gustavus Adolphus. It is situated by the sea at the estuary of Göta Älv, the river running through the city, and is the largest seaport in the Nordic countries. -Wikipedia

Getting around

Getting from Landvetter airport to the venue is very easy by the Airport Bus. Tickets can be purchased on the bus by using your credit card, 89 SEK one way.

Car rental services are available at Landvetter for those of you who plan to stay on and see The West Coast of Sweden.

The undisputable center of Gothenburg is Götaplatsen (5 minutes walk from the Venue) with the statue of the God of the Seas, Poseidon, standing at the very center. From there on Kungsportsavenyn (for short; ”The Avenue”) leads you down to the shops and malls of the inner city.

Behind Poseidon is Gothenburg´s Museum of Fine Arts (well-known for it´s exquisit selection of Nordic Light Artists), and to the left is the Concert Hall, home of the National Symphony Orchestra. To the right you will find Gothenburg City Theater.

Travelling within the greater Gothenburg area is simple and fast independently whether you choose to go by tram (”Spårvagn”) or by bus. For more info see; www.vasttrafik.se
